What is your favourite animal charity and why?
which animal charities do you support?
and in what way do you support them?
Why do you support this particular charity?
Thank you for all your answers and for helping animals in need.
All the charities you support sound like they are doing a really good job helping animals.
I work for the Dogs Trust so of course I'd say them! I support their views that no dog should be bred until the numbers destroyed are either reduced or halted completely. There are other smaller rescues that don't seem to see the problem with breeding, or they just keep quiet about it. Don't understand that, to make a change you need to look at the bigger picture.

Good Mews. They are a no-cage, no-kill organization, and they adopt out several hundred cats a year. Here is their webpage:

ASPCA.
They don't use Holocaust or Nazi campaings that are really hurtful..
The PeTA organization has gone TOO far in their campaignings, but they do a good job at investigations.

National Dogs Trust. With cash donations because I love dogs and realise that not all are as fortunate as my pampered pooches.

Tha National Animal Interest Aliance.
NAIA
I support this aliance because they work to secure that we will have pets in our future as Americans.
I cannot support the ASPCA because although their TV ad is heart wrenching they say "million of animals are abused" I think that is totally false and it is a case of the pot caling the kettle black. Some may be but not millions. I think far moreanimals in shelters are eutanised and the SPCA feels guilty and is using "projection" of their guilt onto the people who own animals. I also think that the Vegans who run HSUS have taken over the SPCAs and are now serving vegitarian dinners at functions. These folks now are brainswashed into thinking any pet ownership is bad or akin to slavery. Therefore we now need the NAIA to protect the ability to even have pets in our futures, from these special interest groups that seek to abolish pets from society, along with farm animals.

I work for an animal charity - Bath Cats and Dogs Home, we are the largest re-homing centre in the South West, and we have a non destruction policy. We are a small part of the RSPCA, but they give us no money!! We have to raise all our funds, which costs us £3000 a day. We have approx 150 dogs on site, 100 cats and numerous small animals all looking for their 2nd chance at a loving home.
It is very rewarding working for a charity, but very emotinal at the same time!!
Local Charities, need help!!

The Humane Society is a charity that attempts to stop animal cruelty through educational programs and lobbying for new animal protection legislation.
Helping animals is a cause that is close to many people's hearts. Charitable donations can help protect endangered species or provide funds towards an animal's food and shelter needs.

i support a little local organization called Camp Companion. they take capture stray cats from feral cat colonies and take them to local vets where they do mass spay and neuters and then take them back to the colony once they have recovered and monitor the size of the colony and the cats in the colony so it doesnt become larger. it really helps keep the stray cat population in our area down. here is a graph of their progress since they started

as you can see its a tremendous improvement since they started in 2003. i also support them for what they did for my family and the little puppy we found last year. we signed him over to them and they paid all the costs for his medical care and then allowed us to pick his new home so we were able to see him. they truly have been great to us and i will be forever greatful for what they did and for what they do for the community, on the weekends i often go to my local petsmart and help people who may be interested in adopting some of their animals, fill out applications and i take their name and number and the animal they were interested in, so that is one way that i help out.

I donate to a local animal shelter.
I'm between jobs right now, so don't have money to spare to donate; but I'm still trying to do a little by finding offers for free dog/cat food and donating those foods.
I would never *never* support PETA or any other "animal rights" organization. Their goal is extinction of domestic animals. Protection by extinction… bass-ackwards thinking if you ask me!

Favourite animal charity: Dogs Trust.
http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/
They are a dog WELFARE charity. They find homes for abandoned dogs, just as any other rescue.
They also do a lot of outreach work, whether to the public (fun dog shows, microchipping events etc etc) or within industries that make use of dogs to push for better welfare. Just recently they have engaged in dialogue with the greyhound racing industry to help them to make much needed improvements to the welfare of their dogs.
They promote RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP (as opposed to pushing for an end to dog ownership as *some* rescues do). They are the only organisation that I'm aware of that recognise that there are many different viewpoints involved in the dog world.
They are imo the single best organisation dealing with dog welfare in the UK.
I got my dog from there. I attend some of their local events but alas I do little else for them.
I do occasional dog walking for my local RSPCA branch (they're much closer to my house than Dogs Trust). I also give donations towards the running of the centre.
