Should multi-million pound charities like the NSPCC be taxed?
According to the charity Commission, from 1st Apr 2005 to the 31st March 2006, it earned £111,899,774.
They have £10.7 million pounds set aside for pensions alone!
Tax to pay £0.
The lowest earners pay one-third of their income in tax. That is someone who works 40 hours a week and earns £240 will pay around £80 after tax and national insurance. Is this fair - the multimillionaires pay nothing and the poor pay more?
What multimillionaires? I don't see any in your post except the charity-which is hardly the epitome of excess.

Taxation itself is immoral and it only makes people poorer. You cannot tax a society into wealth.

Hi. The CHARITY shouldn't have to pay taxes on the donations recieved no. Ok, they've set aside funds for salary and pension purposes for it's staff, and of course, they will be taxed upon their earnings, and i agree, the amount set aside seems a bit heafty.
But the NSPCC uses the money they recieve to fund excellent causes and their work is invaluable throughout, and i think the government would be very immoral to tax the charity itself, because that would reduce the money going towards these caused, and lining Gordon Browns Sh**ty little 'leadership' party pockets.
I agree that their staff should be taxed like evrybody else, but just bear this in mind, i wonder how much the charity directors are being paid a year? And how much of that £10.7m is their pension? I bet their being paid masses of money, and with this, i strongly disagree.
Hope they get SERIOUSLY taxed for taxing so much 'salary' from a childrens charity, like the saying goes, 'like stealing candy from a baby'.

Do we need more bloody taxes?!
And charities? No! Seriously.

This is a CHARITY and has charitable status. Why should they be taxed? It is not a multi-national organisation here with hefty bonuses going to directors - most of the money goes to the causes it supports.
Do you even know what sort of work goes into the NSPCC? Well I do and it is the most challenging, heartbreaking and courageous work anyone can do. It affects all the staff and these staff should get paid that wee bit more. After all, the staff are still taxed through salaries but if you are wanting more taxes so that the Treasury can make money out of the suffering of the children is not just immoral, it would be criminal!
These people help those in desperate need and I know first hand because I have a very close relative that happens to work for this charity. You think it is hard to hear about paedophiles on the news and read about it in the papers, about those that are severely neglected, affected by domestic violence etc? Well, try being one of those members of staff that have to deal with it day in day out and helping those that go through it on a daily basis. These people are trying to protect our nation's children.
Now tell me: should this charity be taxed?

Yes. And so should the RSPCA. For all the good their supposed to do, but dont, they might as well pay tax.

It is the leeches who work for a charity and expect a big fat pension who are the problem.

I hardly think you can call the NSPCC a multi-millionaire. Its a great charity that does a lot of good protecting children. Taxing charities (I don't think any of them are taxed in the UK) would just reduce the amount of work they can do…ie more children would be beaten, starved or abused. Would you be happy to see that?
Besides many of the people who donate to charities have already paid tax on their income…why should it be taxed twice?

Tax has never been fair to anyone who has to pay it,the charity named in your question does enormous good works with the money it has,but as you say the millionaires pay people to avoid tax
but that's the way the cookie crumbles always has been and always will be, so get used to it nothing you or I can do about it, though. I certainly agree, it is wrong,
