What kind of extra carricular activities could you do to stand out when applying to top class business jobs?

Other than regular stuff like charity work or outdoor activites and work experience, what could you do to stand out as something special out of a million other people who have applied, something to show you are a person that's got talent to think outside the box…

Every company is different of course, and look for people who will fit their culture. If it is a company with solid social responsibility (e.g., Ben and Jerry's), charity work will be well received. If it is a company with a focus on the outdoors (e.g., Patagonia or REI), they will appreciate outdoor experience. The one thing every company seeks are leaders. As you participate in any extracurricular activities, seek leadership positions- president of a club, or the like. Such positions tell us that you have the responsibility and ability to work with a team of people.

  1. more and more employers are looking for people who have done odd clubs or extra carricular activities, for example Theater or tennis. Theater is a great way to learn useful skills.
